Loan Underwriting & Servicing Administrator

 Summary:                  Provides operational support for both loan underwriting and loan servicing functions.  Performs various duties related to efficient underwriting of consumer, residential mortgages and home equity loans according to bank policy and industry regulations.  This position also performs a variety of loan servicing activities to ensure accurate loan administration and compliance with applicable bank policies and procedures.

Salary Range:            $21.00 to $27.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.   A higher rate may be offered to candidates with exceptional experience or skills.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with two years of related experience.
  • Previous experience in a bank loan department strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of consumer lending and real estate terminology.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communications skills.
  • Ability to establish productive working partnerships with Loan Administrators and Loan Officers.
  • General computer knowledge and experience with MS Word and Excel with the ability to learn bank software applications.

Specific Job Functions:

  • Review consumer, mortgage, HELOC loan applications to assess creditworthiness in keeping with bank policies and procedures and underwriting guidelines.
  • Analyze tax returns, pay stubs, and bank statements to properly verify income and repayment capacity.
  • Present loan recommendations and any required approval conditions to the appropriate lending authority.
  • Monitor pending mortgage loan files and communicate with Loan Officers regarding outstanding documentation to make appropriate loan decisions.
  • Process online applications by maintaining logs and routing applications to the appropriate Loan Officer.
  • Maintain records of denied, withdrawn, and incomplete loan applications.
  • Review annual escrow analysis statements for accuracy.
  • Process disbursements for property tax, hazard insurance, flood insurance and PMI disbursements
  • Maintain flood insurance tracking and prepare monthly reports.
  • Resolve daily loan unposted transactions and complete required general ledger reconciliations.
  • Process paid loans for all loan types
  • Update or verify daily master rates in the bank’s core processing system.
  • Generate HELOC, ODP, CLC, PLC, and HEP statements.
  • Scanning of loan files and verify the accuracy and completeness of electronic loan files.
  • Accept responsibility to stay abreast of all Federal and State laws, and compliance regulations governing the bank in general, and as they pertain to the job function.

Work Schedule:

  • This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5pm
